RAID Levels

RAID (Redundent Array of Independent [or Inexpensive] Drives) levels indicate how the hard drives in a system are working together. Some of the most commonly used RAID levels are: 0, 1, 3, 5 and 0 1 ( also known as 0+1).

RAID Level 0 - Striping

RAID Level 1 - Mirroring

RAID Level 0 1 (0+1) - striping and mirroring

RAID Level 3 - Parity on a single drive
